The oldest of 14 kids, I grew up in west Wicklow and in Derby in the UK. Still a committed Derby County football fan, I now live in Arklow with my wife, son and daughter, two dogs and my two rescued donkeys and pony.
I have had an interest for photography all my life, and took my first photograph in 1975. My earliest inspirations for photography were the puffins of the Saltee Islands, in Wexford, and the beautiful scenery of Wicklow.
The puffins became an obsession and my obsession paid off when I won the ESB Environmental photography award for a photograph of a puffin in flight. Following my win, a local paper was looking for a staff photographer -- this started a career behind the lens. Since then, I've not looked back, branching out into wedding and special occasion photography, as well as photo portraits. My images continue to be used by the local Wicklow and national press.
